Acting Coach

As an Acting coach , you are to provide Blooms with leading edge expertise in the area of acting and training youth to required standards, preparing them for productions and performances & motivating the students to develop characterization skills.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (These duties are a general description and are not all-inclusive)

  • Select and plan class content.
  • Adapts course of study & training methods to meet students need ability
  • Teaches enunciation, diction, voice development, and also dialects, using voice exercises, speech drills, explanation, lectures, and also improvisation.
  • Discusses as well as demonstrates vocal body expression to teach acting styles, character development, and also personality projection.
  • Auditions students to select cast assign parts
  • Rehearses drills students to make sure they master parts
  • Assigns nonperforming students to backstage production tasks, like constructing, painting, moving scenery, operating stage light, and also sound equipment
  • May direct activities of students involved in constructing, painting, and also lighting scenery
  • May teach elements of stagecraft, stage makeup, costume craft, play writing, or play direction.
  • Help students develop improvisational skills.
  • Help students with script reading and interpretation skills.
  • Help students develop characterization skills.
  • Help students develop an awareness of stage vs. TV/Film acting.
  • Help students develop direction, staging and general stagecraft skills
  • Give advice/guidance to students within the area of acting on:
  1. i) Physical and spatial awareness.
  2. ii) Use of body to express artistic ideas.

iii)            Stage presentation and focus.

  • Coaching individuals for a particular role in a play or musical.
  • Developing a semester plan & presenting it to Project manager for approval.
  • Selecting the musicals or plays needed for performance shows & productions.
  • Determine class skill and age levels with later adjustments as necessary.
  • Attend periodic staff meetings.
  • Integrate annual recitals in conjunction with other PA instructors.
  • Monitoring student´s performance.
  • Responsible for the supervision of registered participants.
  • Create a positive, safe & nurturing learning environment.
  • Stresses fun, sportsmanship & teamwork.
  • Support singing and dance coaches in terms of bringing movement skills to the other disciplines.
  • Work with other staff to co-ordinate the end of term productions in terms of presentation, administrative/operational requirements.
  • Maintains good working relationship with the participants, parents, staff & officials.
  • Communicates well with project manager, participants, parents & staff about class information.
  • Motivates participants to commit to long-term participation.
  • Develops rapport with members and respond to questions related to the specialty and/or other program services
  • Prepare students for performances, exams, or assessments.
  • Organize performance groups, and direct their rehearsals.
